Pressures from overseas partners, fintech, the drop in Japanese population, and generational change make digital transformation in Japan inevitable. Join us and learn how Japanese business landscape is changing with the emergence of digital technology and what practices are succeeding. Featuring Professor William Baber, this webinar will present practical and theoretical cases on how Japanese industry is adapting, or not, to changes in digital technology, exposing gaps and strengths in digitalization in Japan.


Program Presenter

William Baber, Associate Professor at Graduate School of Management, Kyoto University

William W. Baber has combined education with business throughout his career. Currently he is teaching and researching negotiation and business models as an Associate Professor in the Graduate School of Management, Kyoto University. He has also taught as a visiting professor at University of Vienna and University of Jyväskylä. Additional experience includes economic development in the State of Maryland and supporting business starters in Japan. He is lead author of the textbook Practical Business Negotiation and co-editor of Transforming Japanese Business. Recent articles include Transition to Digital Distribution Platforms and Business Model Evolution as well as Identifying Macro Phases Across the Negotiation Lifecycle. Negotiation simulations include Mukashi Games and Pixie and Electro Car Merger, both available through TheCaseCentre.org.

ウィリアム・W・ベイバー 准教授
京都大学経営管理大学院のウィリアム・W・ベイバー准教授はキャリアを通して教育とビジネスを結びつけることに取り組んでおり、現在は、交渉学とビジネスモデルに関する授業および研究を行なっている。客員教授としてウィーン大学とユバスキュラ大学で教鞭を取った経験や、アメリカ・メリーランド州の経済開発、そして日本での起業家支援活動を行った職歴も併せ持つ。書籍においてはPractical Business Negotiationの筆頭著者であり、Transforming Japanese Businessの共同編集者も務めている。最近の記事の執筆ではTransition to Digital Distribution Platforms and Business ModelEvolutionやIdentifyingMacro Phases Across the Negotiation Lifecycleを手がけている。世界最大規模のケースメソッドを提供する非営利企業The Case Centreにおいて、交渉のシミュレーションに関するMukashiGames and Pixieやドイツのカーシェアリング企業の買収に関するElectro Car Mergerのケーススタディを担当している。
