Join the JASG for a Dinner & Movie Series featuring Departures, a 2008 Japanese drama film about a young man who returns to his hometown after a failed career as a cellist and stumbles across work as a nōkanshi—a traditional Japanese ritual mortician. It won the grand prize at the Montreal World Film Festival and the Japanese Academy Prize for Picture of the Year in 2008; then in 2009, it became the first Japanese production to win the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

Here's How It Works

  2. Join Live Group Zoom Discussion on Thursday, July 30 at 7:00pm (Zoom Webinar link & log-in details will be sent after registering before the event).
